Surgical Requirements
Dr. Kolisek and his staff personally evaluate every patient to determine if a partial or a full replacement is necessary to decrease their pain and improve function.
Most patients will seek consultation with Dr. Kolisek when they are experiencing increased pain in their daily lives, suffer from decreasing or limited function, or are not receiving help from non-surgical treatments.
Patients may ask themselves the following questions to help determine if a replacement might be beneficial:
1. Does the pain in your knee or hip (hip joint is felt in the groin area, not back or buttock region) interfere with your daily activities?
2. Is it difficult to go up and down stairs because of pain in your hip or knee?
3. Ar you stiff after sitting for a short time?
4. Is your walking distance limited by pain in you hip or knee?
5. Is pain in your hip or knee waking you up at night?
6. Are arthritis medications no longer helping your pain and/or stiffness?
